Obviously influenced by C.S. Lewis.
Yeah, I was thinking he must be reading C.S. Lewis.
I wonder if they're still ending their concerts with the song "40"? It was their ending song early in their career, it's on one of their earlier albums ("Boy," I think?) and also on the live EP they did at Red Rocks, CO. It's probably the closest thing to a praise song you'll ever hear at a rock concert from a non-"Christian" band; it's loosely based after Psalm 40, hence the song title.
Twenty years ago when they were breaking out with "New Years' Day" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and all that, their Christianity (or at least Bono's) did get mentioned. I remember discussions about it. I never knew all the details behind their spirituality or lack thereof, though I had heard that three of them (Bono, The Edge, and Larry Mullen Jr.) were at least moderately devout, but the bass player (Adam Clayton) was sort of the party animal of the bunch.

C. S. Lewis, IMHO, is one of the greatest men in the 20th century; God surely used him richly.
