Wow. How often do things get passed this easily? Strong bi-partisan support now. Strong public support as well. Were headed back.
NASA finally has her course set. Thank you President Bush. Oh I know there will be bashers here in mere minutes after I post this saying that private industry is the only way to go. I support private industry just as strongly but they are decades behind NASA at best. But I support NASA too. So bash away. Their course is layed in now. Were going back to stay.
WASHINGTON -- With NASA hoping to return to space next week, the House on Friday overwhelmingly endorsed President Bush's plans to go to the moon and Mars as well.
Lawmakers also insisted that the space agency concentrate on research programs and repairing the Hubble telescope.
The first blueprint for NASA's future in five years passed 383-15.

No bash from me. I think privatization of space is a good thing, but I think that the government's recognition that there may be something of value in space is a good thing too.
Just imagine, spinoffs from two different sources...
I support publicly funded space exploration. Some things are too big and without immediate profit to leave strictly to the private sector.
I also believe it is a quasi-national security issue to have the most advanced space program in the world. Let's dominate the high-ground, and that includes the moon and Mars.
Frankly, I get far more excited when I read about how the winners of the X-Prize are getting ready to launch a space tourism business.
More often than most people think, unfortunately.
