If the suspect possibly has his hand on a trigger then you shoot him even if you have him down. I think our cops in the same situation would have kept their distance and fired with a higher chance of other casualties. Good for the Brit police!
The tactics in question originate with SAS under-cover operations in Aden (Yemen) and later in Northern Ireland.
The idea is you close the distance fast, dominate the guy with very aggressive hand-to-hand while you get a pistol into play. By getting them down and sitting on them, they assure that the bullets don't go flying around the tube carriage when they're emptying a clip into them rapid fire.
They figured that was the best approach for dealing with terrorists who are mixed in with dense crowds of civilians. Especially terrorist who might have a bomb trigger on them.
I pose a simple observation.
According to reports I have read and seen on CNN & FNC - the three cops jumped on and covered this sub-human piece of garbage - to hold him down - prevent his escape - and to also stop him from detonating a bomb and killing many innocent civiian Londoners and tourists on that train -
I believe one report said this slimebag rushed into the car - grabbed a pole and a passenger -
The three English bobbies also covered this son of camel dung like and explosive blanket - shielding the train passengers on that car from any possible - and likely - explosion
These three Brit coppers have huge brass ones and literally jumped on what they thought - was a live grenade Xs 10 -
My tweed hat is off and my respect and admiration go to these three courageous London law enforcement officers!
