A few years ago there was a Prime Suspect mystery in that fine series with Helen Mirren, one of the later stories...shot in London...at one point the cops converge on the Thames and find a body. Looming in the background is what looks like a huge, huge blue mosque under construction. I saw this after 9/11, but don't know exactly when this segment was filmed, but I saw that mosque and had a sense of how far London had gone toward accomodating Islam and my jaw hit the floor. Presumably recent events indicate a sea change, except perhaps the Lord Mayor of London, who can be counted upon to make a public statement that humiliates himself yet again.

The first mosque in London appeared in the 19th century. It's purpose was a little different then - it was kind of like setting up a stand at Epcot Centre, except our researchers were trying to study it.

There are loads of mosques in America. You clutch as many vipers to your chest as we do. I'll take your criticism of our immigration policies seriously as soon as one Represenative, Senator or Governor starts actively calling for the deportation of your Muslims, which are obviously just as dangerous (remember the blind imam behind the 1993 WTC bombing?) as ours are.
