What scares me is that it seems unlikely that all three bombs would be "duds." Perhaps, as suggested before, the explosion was not meant to kill people - immediately, but carried something more frightening. Biological? Something that in the coming days will prove deadly?
"What scares me is that it seems unlikely that all three bombs would be "duds."
I think it is most likely that the detonators went off but didn't spark the explosive. Quite likely if it was a homemade bomb like the ones last week seem to have been.
IF it were biological, wouldnt we know by now?

Bad main charges. Probably all made at same time. Lije early WWII torpedo detonators.
One possibility, which cannot be discounted yet...
It is also possible that the intended explosives were made at the same time (same batch) by the terrorists and they screwed the pooch on the mixing job. If so, they should be good information sources, provided they can be apprehended.
Someone might have sold them bad or bogus explosives, too, with just enough to smell right, but not much bang for the buck.
Regardless, they have disrupted the transit system, even if they have not been generally effective in the murder part of their murder and mayhem campaign.
Not necessarily. As one freeper pointed out earlier--if one thing was wrong with a batch of explosives made at the same time then they would all be bad. The eyewitness said the man wearing the backpack looked real distraught(no virgins appearing). I think it was extremely fortunate for the Brits that the explosive might have been defective--but of course we are all guessing at this point...
..snip..."For obvious reasons, authorities say where the devices are located or allow us to photograph them. But Chicago is one of 31 cities, likely terrorist targets, that the Homeland Security department is spending $60 million to protect with such equipment.
BioWatch, as the program is known, has 500 sensors in Chicago, Washington, New York, Houston, San Francisco, San Diego, Boston and other major metro areas. So far, Homeland Security officials say there has never been a false alarm.
Health experts say tens of thousands of lives could be saved by such an early warning system, detecting pathogens, including anthrax, smallpox and plague, days before symptoms start turning up in people".
snip.
I was wondering if anyone else was thiking "practice run."
