RE: the comments here by the koolaid drinkers who were willing to defend any nominee, no matter how worthless--don't let `em get your goat. After all, we seem to have done better than Clements. And he has a record against Kelo-type takings dating back to law review.

If they had any principles or made any sense it'd be worth bothering with them. Don't sweat it.

My Dream would be

1 Bush nominate Roberts....check

2 Bush nominates Janice Brown.....

3 Bush elevates Clarence Thomas...

Roberts was not one of my top 5 choices, but I am content with him for the time being. I know little of his record, and I especially want to know his views on the 2nd Amendment.

Roberts seems to be a better pick than Clements and certainly better than Gonzales. Roberts is unflappable and will do very well in the confirmation hearing, much better than either Edith I or Edith II.

Oh, well, maybe next time we'll get Luttig.

Good point! While I voted for W twice he has been lacking in several key points. He is still the best that was on the market at the time. I am hard pressed to think of another that could have handles himself any better during these trying times. There is no such thing as pleasing all the people all the time. I just wish he would stand up and do something, anything, with illegal immigration.

Actually I was hoping for a real hard liner for his first pick. I am just itchin to shove the DimWits filibuster down their throats. I'm so sick of obstructionists you'd think I had ptomaine. Jones is a slam dunk. The Dems can't hardly do anything but moan and groan a little since he has already passed their scrutiny within the last 2 years.
