Karl Rove, correctly, estimated that four million conservative Christians stayed home in 2000. He was dedicated to motivating those Christians to vote in 2004. I'd say he succeeded.

The Republicans are going to lose more than the four million-plus they gained and then some if Bush breaks his word on this.

Maybe so. For the 32 years before 2000, I had a pretty good track record at predicting voters. After GWB was elected--and FR became a virtual Pubbie cheering section--I, frankly, don't know what will happen.

I'm just pretty cynical, considering the rah-rah false dichotomy rhetoric about the two party system. To tell the truth, my first vote for a third party candidate (first ever for a non-Republican) in 2004 was liberating. I recommend it.

How many votes will the pubs lose if you and Pat Robertson start running the country?

I count just three on this thread. The conservative christians will not stay home and they will not vote for the Dems, who are pro gay marriage, pro abortion, against gun rights, pro Hollywierd, etc etc. You will be in the minority and wonder why you are so lonesome.
