Specter was DA in Philly. He is well-grounded in law.

I do not believe Bush is rushing to a meeting with Specter to choose a SCOTUS nomination Me neither... I think he's telling Specter that he wants hearings now, before the summer recess and the nomination out of his committee before the end of August.

if he nominates special prosecutor Fitzgerald, does that let Rove off the hook?

I do not believe Bush is rushing to a meeting with Specter to choose a SCOTUS nomination Spectre is Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and would be contacted first whether Earl Warren or Clarence Thomas were going to be announced.

End of the Texas Hold 'Em Game for Specter. We've all complained over the last 6 months about Specter's disrespect for the President after W campaigned for him in PA. Time for W to collect Specter's chips. IMHO.
Don't mess with a Texan!

I do not believe Bush is rushing to a meeting with Specter to choose a SCOTUS nomination Maybe W told Specter he has to get an up or down vote commitment or else he nominates Robert Bork as a recess appointment in August.

Specter is the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, either him or Frist would be the first to know in the Senate.
