The article you cited is the only place I have read that he returned to the DA's office after the Warren commission. All his bio's say what I pasted above.

I lived in Philadelphia and don't remember there being any talk about him changing parties although I guess it is possible.

I was saved the embarrassment of predicting GWB by being out of town. I would NOT have predicted Judge Roberts, simply because he was too low- key. But let me now predict that: He will be on the short list for Chief Justice, if, as seems very likely, this choice falls to GWB.
