Huge hearts is not enough to raise/ teach kids. Kids need structure and excellence demanded of them. They will rise to a hard challenge and like it. Otherwise you get sentimentalism and dim-witted feel-good stuff, self-esteem drivel, hugging BAD kids, etc.
I am a teacher and a parent. That kind of training RUINS children, I think. And, as a woman, I will say -- it's women doing it, for the most part. tsk tsk.
Got to agree with you, it seems that women are the driving force behind the "feel good, relax, lets all get along at any cost mentality" that has taken over the schools nowadays.
I totally agree. I was simply disagreeing with the idea that these teachers are lazy. I don't think ideas like this are carried out through laziness or even evil (on the part of the teachers themselves, anyway).
