"...the drug cartels...making billions..."

That brings up an interesting point. What if, as many of us suspect, the drug business is a major funding apparatus for both political parties.
If that is true, then funding and not votes would be the major motivation for keeping the borders open.
Is it not true that by far the greatest number of illegal drugs come across the Mexican border?

Ask these questions when you are discussing the UD drug situation.

How many of these peoples careers would come to a screeching halt if we we able to close down all illegal imported drug use tomorrow.

Doctors, nurses, hospital staffers, firemen, EMPs, police officers, prison guards, attorneys and their staff, judges, bailiffs and associated staff, insurance agents, mechanics and auto body workers, and on and on? There is literally thousands of hard working honest Americans who would immediately become unemployed because their full time job involves work that is either directly related to drug addictys or the damage caused by them.

What effect would this have on the economy?

But we will still have the home made drug addicts, meth users etc.
