Insurance companies all make money on their investments. None of them make any money writing policy. It's pretty generally a cost passthrough situation.

I realize that, but every dollar they save on the cost side adds to their profitability. That's why we have all these laws that p!$$ on our rights, in the name of public safety.

Insurance companies would support seat belts if and only if they were able to reduce their costs (is what I am hearing from you).

Now, think about what you are saying ~ that if people wear seat belts highway travel "costs less", at least for the insurance companies.

So, why does it "cost less"?

Well, maybe there are fewer death benefits and injuries.

In the meantime, just remember that if you aren't using your seat belt, and have an accident, and your head or other body part smacks into my car and distracts me in the slightest I will sue your estate for everything you had leaving your widow and orphaned children destitute and living in cardboard boxes in an alleyway somewhere.

Sound fair?
