Yes--Emily has broken the record for July recorded history.

Almost makes you wonder what we should expect in August and September. I have to go to Galveston for a conference in October. Hope it will still be there. They have a big seawall now.

I can promise you--those of us in Florida can't even process expectations for the next two months. It's too much, too soon. Alabama will concur too.

Actually, early August at least and maybe into late August should be fairly mild as far as Gulf Storms go. Dennis and Emily have done a good job of churning the waters of the Caribbean and the gulf, and the water temps may be lower than normal during August.

Won't affect storms forming in the Atlantic, but it could keep those storms from intensifying if they make into the Caribbean or gulf.

Of course that doesn't mean that the East Coast may not get raked.
