In an interview on NBC's Meet the Press, Louis Farrakhan said the following in response to host Tim Russert's question on the Nation of Islam's teachings on race:

These guys are an insane cult, and nothing more. All normal (normal defined as secular, mainstream and fundamentalist) Muslims deny any affiliations with Nation of Islam, and regard them suspiciously. They are never going to go mainstream, and given what kind of people they attract, I doubt they will ever significantly grow in power. Sorry. I don't know (since they aren't big in Canada and the blacks here don't even put them on the radar as far as I know), but I suspect pretty much all black people in the States as well repidiate them and their heinous, and frankly absurdly ridiculous, beliefs as well.
