"The condescension of the New Yorkers toward us Southerners was so obvious. In time we've come to realize that those folks up north aren't very smart."

Nobody, and I mean nobody, sounds more bloody ignorant than someone with a New Yawk accent, particularly if they're from Brooklyn.

"Hey Jo-ee, cum-awn ova heeya and grab some 'o dis, babeee!"

New Yawkers take classes to learn how to not talk like that.

Well, I do not have a Brooklyn accent...but I always thought it sounded kinda kewel.

I live in CT. There are a bunch of different regional accents within 100 miles of here. There's a LLLOOONN GGGisland accent, Brooklyn accent, a Rhode Island accent, a central CT accent which differs from the accent from people living on the shore in FFLD county CT....then there's a southern Mass accent which differs greatly from the "Kennedy" Boston accent.

I am specifically talking about people who are native born to this area...and not accents from legal residents who are foreign born...which is a whole 'nother cup of tea. I did not even realize I had any accent at all until I was about 12 or so...and would hang out with a bunch of kids my age while on vacation at the shore in R.I. I've been told I do not pronounce the constanents at the end of words... like the "t" in boat. LOL...
Who knew!
