Forgive me for thinking that 9/11 was an attack on us all, not just "Yankees."

That's my entire point. Osama does not see the difference. But Major Randolph, CSA, did. The hotheaded fire-breather Ruffin, proclaimed his hate for the "Yankee race" shortly before his suicide. Separate Southern nationalism had no place in 1860 nor does it now when guys like Osama see only one people and are out to get us all.

I agree with you that separate Southern nationalism has no place in today's world. However, the fact that you admit that Osama does not see the difference between Southerners and Northerners and simultaneously contend that Randolph was obsessed with the difference entirely destroys your analogy and lends no assitance to the point you are trying to advance.

Remember you said: "Maybe Osama is just a 'Good Ole Rebel' too."

IMHO, you should really think about withdrawing this inflammatory and unhelpful analogy.

How does the 1860 Republican platform of "we're going to take over the entire government, do as we please, make you pay for it, destroy your ability to get a living, spend all your money on ourselves, and burn down your State if you don't like it" play today, do you think?
