Collin County government offices closing due to water situation

(McKinney, TX) - All Collin County government offices are closing following today's transmission pipeline failure at the North Texas Municpal Water District's Water Treatment Plant. Most Collin County cities and towns are affected by this break. All Collin County government offices will remain closed for the rest of today.

According to the NTMWD, action is underway to restore partial service to affected communities. Repairs are underway and once the pipeline damage is assessed, system repair time can be estimated.

The local news said that the affected cities have about 8 hours of water reserves, but that the repairs could take 24 hours and it woujld likely be the weekend before the reserves were restored.
