Authorities around the country stepped up security on public transportation systems and urged extra vigilance Thursday following the rush hour bombings in London that rocked the subway system and a crowded bus.
"We are asking people to be alert, to report any suspicious activity or packages, backpacks, boxes to police," New York Gov. George Pataki said in a telephone interview.
About 4.5 million passengers use New York City subways daily, and officials increased police coverage of the subways, buses and transit stations throughout the city.

Getting to be a joke. Look out for about 20 people spread out all over the city. They could be on foot, they could be in a car, they could be riding the bus, they could be eating breakfast at McDonalds, probably not the Sausage McMuffin.
I don't think you realize what a great idea you just hit upon here. At the entrance to every building, train, bus, plane, etc. people should all have to eat a little piece of bacon or be deported immediately. We could rid the country of the terrorists and the vegetarians in one fell swoop.

As long as our borders are secure, and we dont let any foreigners into our country, except for visitors who go thru thorough customs inspection, I really dont think we have anything to worry about. Not that difficult to do.

this is not a joke. portions of the NYC subway system are being temporarily disrupted so searches can be conducted.
I don't see why the authorities are still not allowed to profile. How can they possibly do their job of identifying and intercepting Terrorists if they aren't allowed to look for Terrorists?

Terrorism, like a cancer, is insidious in its effect and, also like cancer, must be eradicated or the host dies.
Short of a mass deportation and a moratorium on immigration from Muslim countries, I see no end to this campaign.

All of the 9/11 terrorists were visitors who went through thorough customs inspections. They had lawfully issued visas with their real identities and weren't carrying the airplanes in their luggage.
