You guys are way off.
The Madrid bombing showed that terror can turn citizens against their own government and make them effectively, if not intentionally, pro-terrorist.
Bombing Chatham Hose would only make sense if Muslims were trying to punish past offenses, but they aren't.
They are trying to tell the British public that their government cannot defend them from terrorism and that the only way to safety is to give Islamic terror carte blanche abroad.
That's the purpose of the bombing - the Muslims are hoping that the British are made of no sterner stuff than the cowardly Spaniards.

My stance on this was that if, as we've been hearing, this was designed to coincide with the G8 summit, why didn't they bomb in Scotland instead of London? Someone on here said that London had a larger population and therefore would produce more casualties. Perhaps that is so, but it still doesn't make sense to me.
OTOH, if they just want to scare the British, as you say, bombing London makes sense.
