We were discussing how the media was about to make that the top slogan for the next several days earlier on the Weather Forum OT section... I had to make a graphic (with sat shot from Ivan). The storm is obviously not a joking matter, but I cringe at the idea of hearing this phrase over and over again the next few days.

The horrible thing is when you can remember the exact same thing from 7 years earlier; my modest proposal is to shoot EVERYONE who uses "Dennis the Menace", "My Bonnie Lies O'er the Ocean" etc. etc. for any tropical system in any context (board post, newspaper headline, etc.)

They have done worse, though. I am fortunate to have Dr. Neil Frank as my weatherman. He always gets a gleam in his eye when he has something other than "hot and dry" to report.
