Thanks for being more reasonable.

"Too much Conservatism is stagnation and repression."

I disagree. Conservatism, in my mine, is adherence to the constitution, not 'interpreted' by 9 black robes. I want the US to limit government, as espoused by the constitution, not increase government encroachment through laws and regulations. Actually, I'd like to see congress convene every 4 years. All they do is make new laws and regulations, strangulating us more and more. Plus, the senators were never meant to be elected, and likewise, the reps were never expected to be a full time job. Yet, it's a career position for many. Maybe it's way past time for term limits in the house. It was established for common men to be able to participate in, today's common man has to be a multi-millionaire to participate. Conservatism is not additional social programs, funded by the taxpayers to correct society's ills.

As Conservatism is in the USA, you are right, since that "conserves" our society in the framework of our social contract. But, in a greater sense, the idea of being conservative can mean a rejection of change or desire for the stability of the status quo, and can be carried too far. I have seen those here advocate the Articles of Confederation over the Constitution. I have seen advocates for the stability of a Saddam controlled Iraq over the risky change of an Iraqi democracy.
