Kasparov: Russians Interfering With Trip [Putin's Nashi aka Red Guard targets ex-Chess champion]
Associated Press via Yahoo! News ^ | 2005 Jul 4

MOSCOW - Garry Kasparov, the former world chess champion who quit to focus on political activities, on Monday accused Russian officials of interfering in his four-day trip to the troubled Caucasus region.

Kasparov, an outspoken critic of President Vladimir Putin, told a news conference that officials conspired to prevent him from meeting with local residents and organized hooligans to throw eggs and tomatoes at him and his entourage. In one city, authorities denied permission for his chartered plane to land, he said.

He lamented the continuing violence and endemic corruption that has plagued the region where war-torn Chechnya is located, calling it "a huge tragedy, not just for the Caucasus, but for all of Russia."

Kasparov retired from chess early this year, announcing he would form a political movement and dedicate himself to defeating Putin in the next elections.

He accused the Kremlin was trying to keep Russians from knowing the true situation in the Caucasus and the fight against terrorism, including last September's hostage-taking by Chechen rebels at Beslan School No. 1 and the 2002 raid on a Moscow theater where the musical "Nord-Ost" was being performed.

"As long as we don't know even the beginning of the truth of what went on in 1999 and 2000, as long as we don't know the truth of Nord-Ost, as long as we don't know the truth about Beslan, as long as we don't know what we are facing, we can't know how adequate the authorities are in combating threat of terrorism, " Kasparov said.

After a several-year hiatus, Russian forces stormed back into Chechnya in 1999 following a series of apartment bombings and rebel incursions into neighboring Dagestan. Small-scale fighting continues and the insurgents often attack Russian forces with bombs.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next thing was to happen is Putin to order assassination just as it happened with the president of Ukraine. Even a vehicle accident would be suspected as an assassination plot.

Oh nonsense! I can't blame the Kremlin one bit for not wanting Kasprov in a war zone. His presence there could cause the death of soldiers detailed to guard him. It would be similar to Sean Penn thinking he could walk safely around in Iraq's Sunni Triangle.

You are right Putin just wanted to take care of him. They offered them even a tasty soup but uncultured Kasparov refused to eat it.

Have you no shame? You remind me of the people who lie about Bush. Nobody is denying the KGB did horrible things in the past. That is the basis for your linking Putin to the supposed poisoning of Yushchenko. However, the very doctor who treated him in Austria stated his problem was due to drinking. The doctor was threatened with losing his life if he denied the problem was due to poisoning. He also lost his job. Any man who would stand up for the truth at this cost has more credibility in my eyes that Internet liars.

I would say that if his charges are accurate, they weren't the least bit concerned about anyone's safety. Kasparov is a potential Presidential candidate, and Putin doesn't seem to tolerate threats to his power.

Damned If I Know

If you have ever been in a combat zone, then you would know far more is involved than a simple political decision. This has little if anything to do with Putin.

It's funny Wiz, never saw you on any of the threads where Putin or Bush are calling for working together or where NATO and Russia are planning or conducting join maneuvers. Now, someone with such deep interests as yourself, hmmm, I wonder why?

Lukasz and facts rarely need to go togather to launch some accusation or other.

Interesting thing, anonymoussierra, says that Lukasz and Grzgy speak text book Polish and know none of the jargon. Hmmm and don't respond to their postings. Hmmmm. I wonder, are Brussel's polish classes that bad?

Kasparov is about as potential as Al Sharpton. He's done nothing to sell his message to anyone in Russia, but what he's done (just like our leftists) is go outside the country and give interviews and press conferances on how bad Putin and dumb Russians in general are. Outside of calling names, he's said ZERO about what his plans or policies would be. But he makes plenty of money on the interviews.

Wis

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it

Joseph Goebbels

Hey, Wis, you seem to be learning from the best. Don't you know that Yushchenko himself has stated the poison was made in Ukraine and Russia had nothing to do with this? You are a quick learner, Wis. Go ahead and repeat your lies several more times. Look for fools to believe you.

I would like to thank the Poles for the help they have provided the US in Iraq, and I especially want to thank anonymoussierra. He has shown me the Spirit of Christ is in some Poles.

Don't judge Poles by the likes of Lukasz and Grgyz, from what anonymoussierra told me, they are not real Poles and speak only textbook polish. He spoke jargon to them and they ran away. As a matter of fact, I've been hammering them with this and they don't respond much once this is brought out. They're EU Brusselnut disruptors and nothing more.
