I don't doubt that Putin's adminsitration is dumb enough to take that tactic, but it would be aweful for Russia. If they work with China like this the bottom line is Siberia will be annexed to China in the next 50 years. Russia will become smaller and obsolete and the Chinese will take over everything east north and south of them. I don't see an upshot for the Russians in that.

CHICOM ping.

===================

The rapidly developing economy of China pushes the country to search for sources of raw materials and sales markets abroad. The USA is China's major obstacle in this respect.

For suicide.

Although Russia doesn't see it yet, their ideal ally would be the US.

As for Putin, he is too blinded by being able to play the KGB games again, to see the global facts staring him right in the face.

However, this is Pravda guys, and is hardly anything like credible or an independent news source.

Russia would be naive to take China over America. China is a clearly imperialistic communist nation and it is adjoined to Russia. It is an immeadiate threat. America is an ocean away at it's closest. The partnership which is logical is the capitalist ally who if turned enemy is till well beyond arms length. China is a nuclear armed vicious rival. Plus Russians historically hate the chinese.

Even my Russian freinds think Pravda is more aptly named "Ne Pravda" (Untrue).

"Sounds like a Russian plan."
More like drunken delirium:
"Russia will inevitably become a battlefield between the USA and China."
Who TF would need that "battlefield" with all its problems, from natural to social? [i.e. from climate and pollution to endemic drunkenness and population implosion]? If the nukes there could be secured from falling into the wrong hands, the wisest course would be to let them stew in their own juices. And if the Chinese could be saddled with that "battlefield" - it, or rather its problems, would absorb their resources and energies for generations to come.

yeah...

I would think this is more Putin than Russia.

Give them time until all the old ex-commies die out and anyone that was associated with the old Soviet Regime. It might take a generation or two, but Russia will get it straight eventually...

Pravda these days is mostly geared towards the "UFOs stole my brain" crowd in Russia, and will print anything if it makes the USA look weak/corrupt/evil.

Mr./Dr. Gvaskov should go visit the Primorsky Krai if he wants to see China's long-range plans for his nation.

I'm going to be the bad guy and submit the most obvious question here -- why does Pravda still exist???

Yeah, and how good was the Russian-German relationship before WWII? Nobody saw that coming either.

"China and the USA will most likely commence negotiations about the division of the spheres of influence in the Far Eastern region."

Yes, and here are the terms: Hands off Taiwan, Japan, the Koreas, HK, Tibet, and Mongolia; or watch Beijing glow.

"China has been trying to restrain and oust the USA from Eurasia with a threat to destroy the US dollar as the global measure of value."

We float the yuan and there are food riots in Beijing within a week.

"Japan could receive nukes from Russia, along with the technical help for their servicing and the dual control over the nuclear force of Japan."

A fantasy but even if so, the Bolsheviks would soon find their own weapons sailing back over their own borders.

"China and Japan will thus obtain the strategic back areas in Russia's Siberia and the Far East. Being China's and Japan's back area, Russia avoids being a front. Otherwise, Russia will inevitably become a battlefield between the USA and China."

Sure, as soon as Russia fights a face-saving war with China that would instantly destablize China's 10%+ GDP and set Chine back about 60 years. The gonks in the PLC are in way over their collective little pointy yellow heads...
