I thought I heard a witness at Dennys say that when the police came, he turned around and was cuffed without incident...

I wonder if he was using the vehicle of someone local, keeping the stolen car hidden during the day. That would explain not seeing the stolen tag but man that is a big question that ought to get an answer.
They took tons of fingerprints from the crime scene, remember? So, unless Duncan had on gloves, they should have been able to match his prints with those in the system already. He did have a record.
I can't WAIT to hear if his prints were at the scene.
