PRESTO, Pa. (AP) -- Philadelphia Flyers center Jeremy Roenick has some advice for hockey fans who blame the NHL lockout on players' greed: Once it's finally settled, stay home.
``We're going to try to make it better for everybody, period, end of subject. And if you don't realize that, then don't come,'' said Roenick, who spoke at a charity golf event he played in over the weekend.
``We don't want you at the rink, we don't want you in the stadium, we don't want you to watch hockey,'' he said Saturday at the Mario Lemieux Celebrity Invitational in suburban Pittsburgh.

``I know we are going to give up probably more than any union has ever given up in the history of (professional) sports and, to me, I think that's enough to bring the fans back -- to know what their players are going to give up as much as they have in the last year,'' Roenick said.
Enough to bring the fans back ...? Wrong.

"He's obviously so full of himself he's overflowing. I bet his IQ is the same as the number on his jersey or close to it......."
What do you mean? This guy's advice is so profound hoards of people follow it even before he gives it.

This story is basically a media "scoop" where Jeremy was asked a question following a few beers with the boys at a golf outing and Jeremy gave a passionate, long-winded answer to a question about the strike. The local sports-talk media took a soundbite from that answer and used it out of context. Surprise. surprise. Don't confuse 'em with the facts.

Relax, we're just joking. I followed the Atlanta Flames back in the day.
I do notice that serious hockey fans tend towards being rather thin-skinned, though. ;o)

I'm relaxed. It just gets a little tiresome to see the same lame jokes on every hockey thread, you know?

I think Roenick needs some of that 'old time religion' known as Scientology.
The guy is hanging over the cliff, Scientology will guarantee a leap off the cliff into the land of nuttiness and fruitcakes.

Sounds good to me. I will continue not going to the games. And I had really enjoyed seeing the Columbus Blue Jackets host all of the NHL teams when they used to visit Columbus.
O well, I am sure that this great hockey star is right and I will not buy my season Tickets next year or any other year in the future. Wow! He just saved me a lot of money and created lots of time for people who actually want me in their stadium, field, etc.

Jeremy, it's not just that the players are greedy. Both sides are greedy.

Both sides are Stupid as well as greedy. They are killing the Golden Goose.
O well, Columbus knew this was in the offing when they worked so hard to get the club, so they can't complain....... too much.

Think we're greedy? Don't come to games No problem, I won't. I'll take my sister's kids to the local college hockey games. That's funner than watching your sorry over-priced a** on the boob tube and it costs about $22 if I buy them drinks and snacks. Get bent, Jeremy. I can't wait for the NHL commissioner to get a hold of your cracked ass.

If I was the NHL commissioner, I would post on the NHL's official website: "Disclaimer: The thoughts and opinions of Jeremy Roenick do not necessarily reflect those of the NHL or its sponsors. In fact we think he's a dumb sh**head."
