Among the closest associates of Khomeini, there were many Communists who had conveniently grown beards. Mustafa Ali Chamran had studied in California and Egypt before he founded a Red Shiite secret society. His pupils included later foreign minister Ibrahim Yazdi, oil minister Mohammed Gharazi, and a Lebanese fellow student in Berkeley University, Hussein Shaikh al-Islam, who led the occupation of the US Embassy in Tehran. This occupation, shortly before the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, focused Iranian radicalism into anti-Americanism. (Taheri, p. 78 and 139-140) Mohammed Beheshti, whose death at a bombing on June 28th, 1981, remained a mystery, had resided in East Germany. Khomeinis early companion and foreign minister, Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, was a link to Syria. Most left-wing radicals were repressed only after summer 1981, by which time many former Communists had successfully accommodated with the new regime. Both Ghotbzadeh and Chamran had received Palestinian terrorist training. As a student in the USA, Ghotbzadeh had been recruited by the GRU. (Livingston & Halevy, p. 153-154; Kuzichkin, p. 302)

The BBC reports this interesting tidbit about Iran's new President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:
His website says he joined the Revolutionary Guards voluntarily after helping to found the student union which took over the US embassy in 1979.

If nothing else, you're definitly single minded, actually obsessed with one agenda: spread hatred towards Russians, as your one subject posting: TapTheSource, proves it.

and who shot Pope John Paul II, a champion for liberty, freedom and individual rights?
an Islamic Communist with full backing of the KGB
The Attempted Assassination of John Paul II
In an encyclical officially stating the Catholic Churchs positions on a variety of social issues, published March, 1991, he utterly condemned socialism, saying:
Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated to the functioning of the socio-economic mechanism. Socialism likewise maintains that the good of the individual can be realized without reference to his free choice, to the unique and exclusive responsibility which he exercises in the face of good or evil. Man is thus reduced to a series of social relationships, and the concept of the person as the autonomous subject of moral decision disappears, the very subject whose decisions build the social order.

LOL...Putin was operating in Europe at the time wasn't he???
A little tidbit on the Pope's would be assassin:
Profile: Agca was involved in crime since youth. In his teens he was a member in various street gangs and got his training in petty crime. Later he made money as a smuggler between Turkey and Bulgaria then moved on to Syria where he was received weaponry and terroristic tactical training which he claimed was funded by Bulgaria.
In 1978, while working with a far-right extremest group, the Turkish Grey Wolves, Agca killed Abdi Ipekci, the editor of a left-wing newspaper. He was caught, tried, and sentenced to life in prison but managed to escape in November 1979 and fled to Bulgaria.
A self-proclaimed mercernary, Agca was quoted as saying he was willing to perform any crime for the right price. Soon after his arrival in Bulgaria he claimed to have been contacted by the Bulgarian Secret Service who offered him over $3 million to kill the Pope because of the Pope's support of the Poland Solidarity movement. He also claimed that once in Rome, the assassination plot was led by Zilo Vassilev, then the Bulgarian military attache in Rome.

You're the one who hates Russia. You're the one who supports KGB-President Putin against the Russian people. You're the one who stands idly by while Putin consistently opposes the US in the UN, and while he builds an anti-US coalition in Europe re: Iraq. You're the one who supports Putin's embrace of terror states such as North Korea, Iran, Syria, and Venezuela. You're the one who supports the common interests of the anti-American Eurasian Alliance, dominated by Russia and Red China. You even make excuses for Stalin! No sir, it is you who are the enemy of the Russian people, not me.

At the end of October, 2000, FSB colonel Aleksandr Litvinenko sought asylum in Britain and claimed to have evidence of FSBs guilt for the bombings.
Damn! It was Russia that was doing all those bombings to justify their invasion of Chechenya!

I do not like to accuse some one for such uncertainity, but after all the posts that follow this news and pro-Putin posts, it makes me think that jb6 is a propaganda agent of Putin's Nashi or the FSB. Nashi is a Pro-Putin group that objects against any type of criticism againt Putin, rumored to be said created by the government. This is similar to the China's Red Guard and modern days Internet police, and the Pro-Hugo group of Venezuela doing the same criticizing any journalist for criticism against him. Dictators around the world seem to engage in same type of activity.

I read the report of the attempted Ryazan apartment building bombing and laughed. You would use hexogen to bring down a bridge, but while it can be used to blow up a building, it would be a waste of resources if used for that purpose. McVey used fertilizer in Oklahoma City, which would be far more effective, since it has a heaving effect. Additionally, it would be the height of stupidity to use a shotgun shell, as reported, as a primer. It simply wouldn't work, because the explosive velocity of the primer has to be greater than the velocity of the explosive being used. To give you an example, we used the high explosive C-4 to cook our food when in the field. We would take a small amount, and light it with a match. It would not explode, because the burn (explosive) velocity of a match flame is not sufficient to set off the higher explosive velocity of the C-4. BTW, C-4 is made of hexogen.
Additionally, I quote, "Yury Tkachenko, the explosives expert who carried out the tests on the substance found in the building's basement, declined a request for comment. He now works in a "special" police unit whose nature forbids making any comments to the press, Ryazan Interior Ministry branch spokesman Igor Shelestyuk said.
Tkachenko tried to detonate a small amount of the substance from the sacks immediately outside the apartment building but it did not detonate, Anitov said.
Maksimov said FSB explosives experts tried to detonate a larger amount of the substance -- 3 kilograms -- on a special testing ground, but it didn't go off either."
Not only would it not go off, but Tkachenko would have recognized hexogen immediately. I'm sorry to burst your fairy tales, but someone needs to do it.
