Maybe. I've worked with hunting dogs and they are by no means 100%.
They are used to follow a scent, pursue leads or, possibly, to establish probable cause.
Certainly not to replace normal investigative methodology.
Or common sense. "Hey! There is a locked trunk. Open it and see."
