Polygamy is really not illegal, since not recognized in law, unless it involves incest or sex with a minor. I don't really understand what this one is all about. If a guy can round up three adult women who live in his house to service him, that is not a crime - anywhere.
Perfectly legal--unless he marries them.
Strange, really.
A man can live with as many girlfriends as he wants so long as he doesn't make honest women out of them.
So what's wrong with pedophilia if you're okay with polygamy?
kept Utah out of the US for a decade or so.
"Polygamy is really not illegal,"
Wrong, polygamy is illegal. That's why the Mormon Church changed their doctrine and denounced polygamy decades ago, which used to be one of the main principles or their religion.
Polygamy is defined as multiple marriage. It is not only defined by sex.
As long as he doesn't marry them. They change after marriage.
Having more than one wife violates the "cruel and unusual punishment" clause of the Eighth Amendment.
How about the sex ratio being just the opposite ... three men married to one woman? It would fit the 'service' notion more aptly at certain ages.
It's really about men wanting to do that, then to legitimize those relationships through marriage in order that everyone can collect a welfare check and no one has to work. No man in his right mind wants to support more than one woman plus her children. It's lunacy.
Polygamy only made real sense in an underpopulated agricultural society, where children were an economic asset. Today it's financial suicide.
