I hate the way Tasers are being used like this. That said, once a person starts breaking the skin (scratching) she becomes a danger in this era a communicable diseases such as Hepatits and HIV.

The staff should not be expected to risk their health.

Better he should'a punched her out, I guess? < /sarcasm >

Seriously, that is a no-win situation for any male law enforcement officer. A well placed kick from a small female can do a lot of damage, yet he is expected to get her under control GENTLY, and without being perceived as groping any "naughty parts".

A taser is NOT the weapon to restraint someone in that state. It is a good way to potentially give them a heart attack however.

Since this was happening in closed quarters they probably couldn't use pepper spray.. I really dont know what another alternative would be.. whack her in the head with a billy club?

Obviously without the taser, his only other alternative would have been to shoot her dead.

A taser in hands of a wimp is a dangerous thing.

Can I swear here? Jesus Christ!!!! I'm starting to think that our law enforcement guys are a bunch of pantywaists!! It seems like they're all afraid of getting hurt. Like they get in their cars at shift start, pray to not get hurt, then spend the shift doing whatever causes them the least pain.

If there are any LE here who are doing your job for the PUBLIC GOOD, and not just putting in time till retirement, good for you!

In this situation, I've got no problem at all with the Cop using the Taser.

I'm afraid that if I was her mother and had access to a taser I'd have to use it. 13 and drunk AND stoned? She needs an azz whoopin' and then she needs some serious help.

Can't believe some of the responses on this thread. If a girl is old enough to be out on the streets at 2:30 in the morning stoned out of her mind and kicking and screaming out of control, she's old enough to get tasered. Kid or not, nobody has an excuse to act this way. Cops are doing their job in this case.

This spoiled brat probably got the first real lesson of her life. I bet she doesn't do this kind of thing again!

A little drugged-up, drunken teenage wildcat is trying to assault hospital workers, law enforcement officers, and generally wreak havoc on anyone and everyone?

Taser the little beeotch, I don't give a damn what her age is. And as another poster said, then drag the parent(s) in and taser their ass for good measure.

Had I been in that officer's position I would have fired that Taser without hesitation and I wouldn't lose one wink of sleep over it.

I'm suprised that the hospital didn't have security and psych staff on hand to restrain her. Most hospitals have personell who are trained to handle this sort of situation.
