Detroit's no more of an "urban wasteland" than any other major city. So why single it out?
Furthermore, your (and others') insinuation that there are sports riots in Detroit is simply false. Many other cities which you presumably like better have had those riots in recent years, while Detroit hasn't. Perhaps you should focus your ire on those cities.
