GO SPURS GO!
Blah blah blah. Grow up.
Duncan is one of the classiest guys in sports today.
That's why I don't mind them winning it. I agree. I like players who are classy on and off the court. One of my favorite "old-school" guys was John Stockton.
San Antonio people have been classy for 170 years.
But watching some the stories about him and his brother, I began to loosen up on my opinion of him.
He always seems to get the best out of what he is given.
I think there are a lot of "small" towns that have over 100,000 people. In many states, those would be major cities.
Those statements were a reasonable assumption based on both recent and historical performance of Detroit sports fans. I will note with relief that nobody is talking about Detroit burning.
*****The San Jac monument was built after a law had been passed saying that no monument could be taller than the Washington monument in DC. So we Texans simply put it on a bigger base, which combined with the memorial is indeed taller!*****
That's very close. But what had happened was we were building the monument, designed to be no taller than the Washington D.C. Monument, and realized we were a few feet shy of topping that, so we added the giant star (18 feet tall?) Then we claimed that the 20-something foot base is not actually part of the monument, to get around the technicality.
Just thought I'd share that bit of trivia to add to your own post. I live about 5-10 minutes from the monument and battleground, and am a big history buff (though I haven't been lately).
Regarding the Alamo being a "lost cause," it sure as hell was not. Those 183 brave men gave Houston's army an extra 13 days to rest and train, and the weary troops as well as the new recruits needed that very much.
Who are they?...Go Pats!!
I bet that 1.5 million is the smallest city that hosts a basketball team.
Charlotte NC about 500,000.
Same story with Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
Thanks for the nice words about San Antonio. Despite some pretty strange local politicians, it is a great place to live. I will be pulling hard for the Buckeyes to destroy texas university this fall.
Keep watch on the Breaking News threads for: No Riots in Texas.
Perhaps thinking of Tim Duncan, born in St. Croix, Virgin Islands...1976
I would say the exact same thing without the sarc tag. :-)
Who cares? Basketball sucks, especially in June!
Duncan is from the US Virgin Islands and although he is a US citizen he is not an AMERICAN! HE IS A FOREIGNER! GOT THAT! There is a HUGE difference between being a US citizen and being an American.
I'll also throw in a bit of advice here:
Don't ever go to the US Virgin Islands and tell one of the natives that he is an American. He'll kill you. The natives in the US Virgin Islands consider the US Virgin Islands to be a separate entity, i.e., its own separate country. I agree with them. They just happen to be a US protectorate.
Yeah, kinda like your use of the word "frikkin'" AND your tagline which is SO mature sounding!
HYPOCRITE!
And your point would be?
Three foreigners are starters. I hate the Spurs.
Oh, and you really should stay away from Spanish. You can't even say a very short sentence correctly. It doesn't become you. :-)
Promote the Spurs? Most of them are FOREIGNERS! :-)
