Top Dollar, sure, just try and buy a comparable home in SE Connecticut for what they are being paid. While in parts of the country 150 to 225 thousand dollars sound like a lot, but here the average house price is over $250,000. Homes walking distance to the waterfront and a great State Park like Fort Trumbull, $450,000 and up.

It's a give away to big pharma and developers. I live in a neighborhood very much like Fort Trumbull, about 5 miles away in East Lyme CT. My home is valued at around $250,000, but all of the new homes in town go well over 400K. I can see what happened at FT Trumbull happening to me in a heartbeat.

Sorry about that, but I was being sarcastic. My mom is a county Assessor. She and others in my state always go below market value (at least 10% or lower). With a rotation of several years before reappraising (unless something comes up), it usually results in less property taxes and less problems.

Unfortunately, this ruling means that since the government dictates prices, it may go with the old appraisals by the county instead of market value. That's a lot of money to be ripping someone off. In some businesses it 7 figures. And in this county there aren't many properties above $1 million for residential or $50 million for business property.

Wonder how much Pfizer contributed to these city councilmembers and their campaigns? Whose spouse works at Pfizer? Despite Justice Kennedy's insistence that this was above board, it smells funny. Wonder if Pfizer will pay the reduced appraised price?
