I saw that too... but the key factor was how far off shore she would have had to be dumped. Remember, the time line --- they created their own timeline and I suspect that's a HUGE lie. I am willing to bet JVDS asked Natalee how late she could stay out ad that poor, dear Natalee answered truthfully that nobody would notice until the morning when it was time to depart. She likely told him, she was already packed and ready to go.
Dr. Boden said that her body would float (OMG!) back up if they disposed of her in the ocean even if it were several hundred feet out because the water is so warm. He said he thinks she is on the island.
