This is ridiculous, I never said that. I said, If I knew MY SON was innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt I would still tell him not to say a word and any parent who did not do that would be reckless.

Sorry, Toespi. I can't agree.

If upset parents arrived at my house in the middle of the night, wanting to know where thier daughter was, I would track my son down immediately, and demand that he help in any way he could, and fess up OR ELSE!

And, I have raised two boys. Had a girl, drunk, trying to sneak into our house to hook up with one of them. I know about teenagers and the stupid messes they get into.

We are parents. We supervise, and call them on the carpet when they screw up. That is our job, like it or not.

The VanDerSloots owed more to the Holloways than telling Joran to "shut up". I would have demanded one of my sons to 'fess up', get his pants on, and help search for the girl. If he pulled one of those "who, me?" routines, I would have called the "polis" myself.
