I woke up to that horrifying testimony this morning from the BTK killer. The one consolation I have if a "nice" looking man like that came to my door are the two dogs that waited patiently at the bottom of my bed for me to wake up.

Belgian Malinois they are. BTK would get my male's best "cujo" imitation at the front door, and never get past him, for if he did, my female, Hanna, is ready to do the "tag-team" thing.

These dogs take a lot of time, and are not for those who work out of the home, but for pure family protection, they can't be beat. Know your breeder, of course, and be ready for training, (best with private trainer) and never go to the bathroom alone again, or anywhere for that matter. But, they will protect you to the death, yet sit on command.

Hi, J, your mention of the bathroom reminded me of my parents' honeymoon. They went to Napoleon, Ohio, where my dad's family lived. My mom was a city girl, not used to large dogs, esp. German shepherds, which my dad's family owned. They'd been trained not to bother people coming into the house, but wouldn't let you leave unless commanded by a family member. So my poor mom gets up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and darn near has heart attack when a cold nose touches her hand as she walks down the hall. I imagine she didn't go anywhere near the front door! Hope your guys are well and staying cool. Had to put my mini dachsies in the bathtub to counteract the oppressive heat this afternoon. They had the best time and dried off on my bedspread.
