I have heard the same warnings. But I have never heard of any teen who was not a gang member, part of drug cartel, etc. who has been an offender in such a situation. I think if that was Joran's MO, there would have been reports of other, previous times, or connections with unsavory types. He is a good looking boy, I doubt if he has to force foreign women to have a relationship. If this were his first attempt at such a move what would have been the motive? A short escapade on the beach does not seem to be worth it, IMO.

Rape has nothing to do with love, and good looking men do it seeking power, not romance. When I went to KU years ago, I knew a good looking guy from Aruba. Indeed, he was better looking than Joran. He told many stories about their beach parties, sex with tourists, and said he never took "no" from a woman. He was one of the wildest men I have ever met, and I don't doubt for a second he raped women. I have not lived a sheltered life having spent many years in the military with Special Ops. individuals.

And, you are right that rape has nothing to do with love -- for sure! Who said that it did? Ugh, not me I hope I did not infer that. But, I don't think rape or "love" are even part of this. Certainly there was not enough time to have real love.

And, it has never been proven what their time on the beach involved. It could be as innocent as two teens, behaving as teens do sometimes, filled with the hormones, excitement, delight of a night in paradise, and the thoughts of the end to a vacation. Without any intimate sex involved, but just the playfulness of petting. I think it would be hard for me to feel for sure they had sex. I am not naive, I know that happens, of course, but until proven I just cannot state for sure. They could have just been sitting, talking, petting, and sharing thoughts.

I am not going to assume they had sex of the full nature. Sure they could have. It could have been consensual or not. I do not want to judge either of them on that issue. Teens have sex, sure, but a lot of time they just like to be together.

The island of Aruba is a tourist mecca where lots of young women come for vacation and party time. They were living the high life of women, sex, alcohol and drugs. They were probably used to getting their way, taking advantage perhaps on the woman's last night on the island, maybe even using date rape drugs where the woman doesn't remember what happened. It's all about power and bragging rights for them I suspect.

Yes there are a lot of other scenarios, but I can't get past this bunch lying over and over and over again. If they are innocent, why are they lying?
