He not only said there hadn't been a shark attack, I think he said they didn't have sharks.
I was on the island right next to Aruba and they had sharks.
He was only spouting that because he doesn't want to scare off the tourists.
We were in Aruba last week. The jeep tour guide told us that the sharks are only on one side of the island. Why? don't know.
