If anyone wants to know what it's like to pursue a PhD, try pursuing a black belt in a traditional martial art like Isshinryu. HA! Try getting a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. 10 to 15 years of consistent training, on average. (I'm just giving you a good natured ribbing - I respect the traditional arts as well. :) )

Try getting a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I would not mess around with one of these guys for anything! We had a Black Belt guy teaching in the school and this guy was the only person I ever met that I would rather face a gun than take him on. Un-freaking-believable how devastating an attack they produce.

To follow up, our Sensei (4th degree Black Belt Karate) took on this Brazilian Jui Jitsu Black Belt and it looked like a kitten fighting a tiger. Luckily it was light hearted sparring or it would have been a bloody mess.

Try getting a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu The grappling arts take much longer to achieve proficiency in than striking arts. Just the fact that you cannot practice without a partner makes it so.
