Schiavo Burial Provokes New Fight
cbs ^ | 6-21-05

The burial of Terri Schiavo's cremated remains didn't bring an end to the acrimony between her husband and her family.

Michael Schiavo angered his late wife's family Monday by not notifying them about the burial beforehand

Still, her parents welcomed the news until they found that a graveside plaque reads "I kept my promise," reports Gordon Byrd of CBS radio affiliate WHNZ.

Michael Schiavo — who said he promised his wife he would not keep her alive artificially — also listed Feb. 25, 1990, as the date his wife "Departed this Earth."

On that date, Schiavo collapsed and fell into what most doctors said was an irreversible vegetative state.

Schiavo actually died March 31, nearly two weeks after her feeding tube was removed by court order. The grave marker lists that date as when Schiavo was "at peace."

David Gibbs, an attorney for the woman's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, decried the inscriptions on the marker. "Obviously, that's a real shot and another unkind act toward a grieving mom and dad," Gibbs said.

Found this on Terri's daily thread
Terri's plot sits next to a fountain and includes both a memorial bench and a marker that would not seem unusual to future visitors to the site, except for a few lines on the already weathered plaque.

Instead of the standard dates of birth and death, the plaque lists February 25, 1990 -- the day of Terri's collapse -- as the date she "departed this earth," and substitutes "At peace March 31, 2005" for the line marking her death. The last line of the plaque reads "I kept my promise," presumably from Michael Schiavo. But the last line on the plaque line may prove to be the most controversial among those who fought to keep Terri alive. Beneath the small image of a dove are the words, "I kept my promise"
Notice the already weathered plaque. He must have had it made right after she collapsed.

58 posts and no one mentioned that fact that Michael buried her in Florida.

OK, here you go. Michael buried her in Florida so he wouldn't have to fly to Pennsylvania to urinate on her grave for the sole purpose of spiting a broken hearted old man and his wife.

What a pathetic asshole he is. The essence of a bully. I now believe every word the nurses and his ex girl friends said about him. A punk in every sense of the word.

Of course he did. Amazing that he knew the exact date of her death five years into the future.

"Was it certified by somebody?"

No. Michael just went to he cemetary, dug a hole, and threw in the urn.

People do that all the time.

Sounds just like him. Probably cement dust in the urn though. He would never give the Shindlers the privilege of grieving over her true remains. Just the kind of guy he is as evidenced by that despicable marker of his. JMO

I would expect the marker to look better since it should be brand new. Or at least it had better be. If it was ordered before March 31, that would suggest that Michael may have tried to ensure she died precisely on schedule.

LOL. Sarcasm to counteract what should be obvious. I love the gravesite. It's beautiful. What a perfect and peaceful setting for Terri to be in. With the pond and the fountain. It's lovely. Michael by having it nearby will be able to visit the site whenever he wants to. And the words he chose for the tombstone sum up what really happened perfectly. As it was his choice of words to put on the gravestone, he chose that which he stated right along as the reason he wanted Terri to leave this earth with dignity; he kept his promise to her. I think the words fitting and from his heart.

But of course the Schindlers and their supporters will make something evil out of his words, thinking in their typical egocentric way that it's all about them. It isn't. It's about Michael and Terri. He did what he knew she would want, and that was not to be flipped like a pancake for 15 more years, unknowing, and unseeing. I think it a wonderful memorial to her. Michael completed his mission for his wife. May she RIP.

Sure. Stone can have additional numbers carved into it, or bronze markers can have separately-cast plates attached with dates. At the cemetery, I often see markers with two people's names cast into them, and with number plates installed for one person but not the other. In such a case, I would expect that the person for whom the number plates have not been installed is probably still alive.

Does Terri's marker look as though the dates are on separate plates?

The key point was that he buried her remains in Florida so her parents could visit the site.

He was going to bury her elsewhere (Pennsylvania?) which was upsetting to her parents.

"Does Terri's marker look as though the dates are on separate plates?"

Nope. And no reason to cast the marker that way, in that it's highly unlikely he'll be joining her.

It was cast after she died. Does EVERYTHING associated with this case have to have a dark side? And with nothing to support it but 100% pure speculation.

These Terri threads are an embarrassment to FreeRepublic. Case in point: Please take 60 seconds and re-read the first 57 posts in this thread.

Makes you real proud to be a member -- would you refer a friend to FR by linking them to this thread?

If I were Jim, I'd delete every Terri post on this forum that wasn't based on fact. Of course, that would eliminate about 90% of them.

It was obviously cast after she died. I did question why the marker doesn't look better in the photos, since any respectable company should ensure their marker looks good upon installation.

Yeah, and a lot of thanks he's getting for it. Just more and nastier attacks. He's a murderer, you know.

The key point is that he buried her in CLEARWATER.

Why is she being buried there? Looks like one town can expect a lot of revenue from pilgrimages to Terri's burial site.

Clearwater Florida, especially downtown Clearwater, is Scientology's worldwide spiritual headquarters and main training ground. The Flag Service Organization, located in Clearwater, provides the highest level of Scientology training and is the largest single Scientology "church" in the world. Scientology brochures claim that Clearwater Florida has the "largest community of Scientologists in the world." Back in 1998, Scientology generated from 1.5 to 2 million dollars of income per week. This material success enables them to maintain ownership of tens of millions of dollars worth of property (about 40 buildings) as well as many businesses: To date, the church owns more than $50-million in Clearwater-area properties and is nearing completion of a $50-million Mediterranean Revival-style building nicknamed "Super Power." Additionally, the church now has 565 hotel rooms in and near downtown for visiting Scientologists who consider Clearwater their spiritual mecca.

Scientologists believe (1) that a disabled person is in such a state due to his or her own failings, (2) the disabled person will deliberately move in the direction of death, and (3) disabled people (Individuals who score low on the emotional tone scale) will also bring death to those around them. (See L. Ron Hubbard's book, Self Analysis, chapter 4)

One of Scientology's major goals is to change society's views about death, dying.

Indeed, Greer is a longtime crony of various Scientology lawyers. This is a picture of him from years ago.

Left to right: Chief Judge David A. Demers, Tim Johnson, Probate Judge George Greer, John Blakely, Bruce Bokor, and then Wally Pope. Wally Pope was (at times) listed as Scientology's lead counsel in various parts of the Lisa McPherson-related cases. Blakely and Bokor are or were both partners in the law firm Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel, & Burns, which often represents Scientology.

Here's some more from the founder of Scientology..

"Society, the bulk of which is bent upon survival, fails or refuses to recognize death or the urge of organisms toward it. Society passes laws against murder and suicide. Society provides hospitals. Society carries such people [the disabled] on its back. And society will not hear of euthanasia or "mercy killing." (Self Analysis by L. Ron Hubbard; pg. 28)

He certainly has been faced with the In Laws from Hell and their organized Brigade of Liars.

It matters not what he put on it since nothing would have been acceptable to the In laws from Hell. There is little rational about them as the further idiocy wrt the autopsy shows. I predicted that they would not accept it and also that they will be filing a law suit against him for some cockamamy reason. I am reminded of the Harpies of Greek mythology.

Three immutable principles of life:

1) You don't tug on Superman's cape
2) You don't spit into the wind, and
3) You don't follow a religion made up by a science fiction writer.
