No, but of course they were going to find him guilty whether he did it or not.

If they found him innocent, there would be a media frenzy saying how bigoted and racist the south is the likes of which we haven't seen.

And of course the jurors couldn't let that happen.

Maybe he did it. He certainly was an evil man, and he will burn in hell for it if he has not repented.

He will likely die in prison and deserves his stay there. Whether he was the mastermind in these killings, I don't know.

I should say I think he did it.

But based on the quick turnaround from deadlock to a verdict the next day, something smells.

I think they took political considerations into account, as well as Killen's age. He is going to die soon anyway, so even if he didn't do it, he won't be in jail long and his past wouldn't make anybody sympathize with his imprisonment even if he is innocent.
