he is going through MID-LIFE crisis and going after a girl much too young to realize what she is doing. She's like 24 years old. She is old enough to know exactly what she is doing. The problem is that she's an idiot - and she will be the same idiot when she is 40.

"This "War of the World/I'm straight/Batman Begins" tour is pathetic."
Cruise is not in Batman Begins. And War of the Worlds is not out yet. I don't get your comment.

exactly - that is what distinguishes (among other things) a cult from a religion. A religion will not hide its teachings; a cult will. If you visit a Catholic priest or a Baptist minister and ask him to tell you about his religion, you will probably have to pay him money to get him to stop talking about it :-) But if you go to a Scientologist "minister" you have to pay money just to get him or her to start telling you about Scientology. Even then, they are not truthful and forthcoming with new recruits. People spend years and thousands of dollars in Scientology before they even learn all the secrets of the cult. By then it is often too late for them to escape.

Of course, the Scientology leaders have all the goods on the likes of Cruise and Travolta. That's why they'll never leave, they know they would spill the beans on them. You hit it on the head. My guess is they got many pictures of both of them in "compromising" positions. Travolta in particular is real indiscriminate on who he hits on, or so I hear.

The problem is that too many people that are posting these "Pro-Scientology, Never-heard-of-it-Scientology" replies, in all likelyhood never grew up when Scientology was in the news in a big way. Plenty of kidnappings, brainwashings and outright theft of whole family fortunes. I was in my late teens during this and worked near Scientology Hdqrtrs.
So close in fact on many occasions I talked to families as they were headed to get their children back from these animals. What Scientology did (Fact not Fiction) was to hire a bunch of lawyers and sue anyone who tried to tell the public what they were like(lots of deprogramed x-members), into bankruptcy.
Did not matter even if you had the proof, they went in before hand and got gag orders from corrupt judges and put leans on property and assests in some cases. This and with the help of the Cult members who were a part of the MSM, helped them to cover up their abuses.
So anyone who comes to these threads and tells us all how good Scientology is, is a member of said Cult. Good to see we have a few on here who know them for what they are.

Yup! Pretty boy, Tom Cruise uses woman as beards. Back in the fifties and sixties Rock Hudson did the same thing.
To: Your Nightmare
Hoffman probably has the best range of any living actor.
I'd have to say Cruise is better than Kevin Costner, though.

Yep, the only thing more pathetic than a in-love scientologist actor would be if he was addicted to nitrous oxide and thought he was a great poet.

You make my point for me. It is not a case of whether or not the original source is honest. It is how honest I am in my research. And how honest is it to judge a faith-based organization by embittered rumor and innuendo?
And no, I am not a scientologist and have no intention of becoming one. But if I ever do research on them, I'll go to them to get their beliefs first-hand.
Heaven knows, I have heard from plenty of people who have slammed me for my beliefs based on little more than rumor of the dissafected or ignorant. Is that honest? I think not.
My lack of interest in scientology has little to do with their beliefs and everything to do with the founder who was (IMHO) a third rate author who started the religion for tax purposes only. I've read some of his novels and come to this conclusion myself. But my opinion is based on my perceptions of the founder more than anything else.

" The great actors (DeNiro, Pacino, Streep), you don't sense they are acting."
A trained monkey can act. Acting is the most overrated, grotesquely overpaid "profession" on the planet. All you have to be is pretty, at the right place at the right time, and it's not who you know, it's who you ... hence the
F ilm A ctors G uild. Oh yah, and a card carrying member of the liberal/socialist/communist movement helps too.

She's a 26-year-old actress. She's past her mid-life crisis. Furthermore, her career thusfar has been based on her being a cute girl. She is positively over the hill.

By 24, I didn't know what I was doing. I guess I was just slow.
(I wonder if I know what I'm doing now. Well, at least now I'm aware that I don't know what I might know. Back then [waaaaay back then!], I didn't know that I didn't know what I didn't know.)
