I've heard Aruba does have abandoned gold mines. I think it was reported on FOX. Some were said to be closed but others were left open.
This evening Fox showed some caves on the island. They were pretty creepy, complete with bats. Not sure how many of these caves are on the island, but it seems Aruba isn't just sandy beaches. Guess it's possible for a person to be hidden and not found, considering the mines, caves and etc.

Someone asked her mother if she had run away before and I thought she said no. Sounds like they are trying to discredit the family to make up for their own negligence on the case.
To: Rippersnapper
It's interesting that the officials on the island have been very shortcoming with our press, your statement (trying to discredit the family) makes me wonder what they are saying to their own media and their own citizens- are they shaping the local public perception against US? Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Shrinking the image using the height and width attributes doesn't make things any quicker for dial-up users. The large image is still loaded, it is just displayed smaller.

Correct
Resize the image much smaller for thumbnails or small images and host it at tinypic if you have no linking website storage
GIFworks (.gif only) or ImageMagick (.jpg or .gif) has image resizing online and fast
NetMechanic online has quick image file size reduction in graduated "steps" using the original size image

Aruba and Grand Cayman (where my daughter resides) are the same size and I know I could find my daughter on that island or find out what happened to her.
If Natalee was murdered, it was not premediatated so there has to be evidence of the crime. I am left to ponder that she was weighted down and dumped in the sea, or buried 10' deep in wet sand.
Absolutely infuriating and sickening. I don;t know how her sweet mother is holding together, but she is.

ah....a second thread.....
when E. Smart was still missing, there were many, many , many threads on her....everyday there would be new postings......ususally the same group ....
thing was, unless you knew where to look, you might not even know that the threads were there.....
about Natalee......sounds like a very corrupt little island to me, one that a Tsunami could wash over very easily......

Yeah, I remember Elizabeth Smart's threads. They got hot and heavy at times when a few posters would claim she "ran away" on her own. Thank God, beautiful Elizabeth was found alive.
At the time, my eldest g-daughter was 2 years younger than Elizabeth, but she was a ringer for her. They were on vacation from their home in the Cayman Islands visiting me here in San diego, and my Taylor was stopped several times by folks wanting a closer look at her. Little did we know at the time, Elizabeth was being held captive a mere 10 miles away in Lakeside, CA.

If they are trying to minimize the impact on the tourism industry, they are blundering that job even worse than they are blundering the investigation.
I'm afraid to go to Aruba now and I live in Detroit!

Aruban authorities still aren't calling their probe a criminal investigation, and Dompig said Saturday they haven't ruled out scenarios that Holloway left on her own or was kidnapped.
Kidnapping not a crime on Aruba?

It also seem that they are trying to cast suspicion elsewhere- anywhere but there (Aruba).
They need to stop media managing and just solve the case. We understand that girls are kidnapped/raped/murdered everywhere, even here in the U.S. of A. Tourists will feel more confident about Aruba if the case is handled professionally and the perps locked up.
