Hyperbaric medicine is not "alternative" medicine, Peach. It is a specialty concerned with the effects of unusually high or low pressure on the body. It is historically concerned with diving, but also applies to low pressures in outer space. The hyperbaric (high-pressure) oxygen chamber used in diving is increasingly being applied to other medical conditions. It is especially useful for care of problematic wounds where the oxygen may disinfect more effectively than conventional procedures. There are many other applications, including, interestingly, AIDS management, along with cerebral palsy, diabetes, and treatment of brain injuries like Terri Schiavo's.

That's just a buncha new-fangled doctorin' talk. If'n he was a real doctor, he'd have plenty a bat wings on hand. Ain't Doctor Granny good 'nuff fer ya? /sarcasm

Yeah, well, "alternative" medicine, for me, connotes some of those dreadnoughts I used to observe in Berkeley eating holistic organic herbs, clicking their heels three times, and chanting, "Every day in every way I am gedding a widdy biddy better."
