"DICK is hanging up on us too!...."

Well don't let him off the hook. If not answering today, he should have to answer tomorrow or the next day, next week or next month. His words have consequences and he's got some backtracking to do.

Giving aid and comfort to our enemies during wartime used
to be a crime.

As a Vet. with a son in Iraq I agree and second this letter. Abraham Lincoln was subject to this type of behavior from Democrat Copperheads in congress during the civil war. He finally had them arrested and put in jail. It's called sedition and political insurgency.

Thank you for your service to your country, and thank you for putting this up to read.

Our elected officials, and especially our elected Republican officials, and I mean all the way up to 1600 Penn. Ave., need to stand up now and DEMAND that he retract that statement. This kind of thing cannot continue, or we cannot not only win a war, but we cannot defend our country.

What would be nice to hear a number of Senate and House Republicans get up and show REAL anger at what Turbin said.
Oh, I know, that would take guts.

They will if we get loud enough.

Here's my letter to DICK:

To Senator Dick Durbin:

It is surprising to me that you have not yet visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. I highly recommend it. Clearly you have not been there and learned about what the nazis did to innocent human beings during the course of WWII. Six million Jews were put in camps, starved to death, shot, died of disease, tortured in sadistic nazi medical experiments, and most of them were methodically gassed to death in gas chambers.

Please talk to survivors of the Holocaust about what they went through at the hands of the nazis and how many family members they lost at the hands of the murdering nazis. Ask them if they would rather they and their relatives had been treated the way prisoners are treated in Gitmo. I think then, you will be ashamed by your comparison of the Gitmo prison guards to the nazis, and hopefully, you will apologize for such an ignorant comment.

I think that this in fact is one of the greatest insults in his speech. Everytime the Democrats describe Gitmo or Abu Ghraib as "Nazi" like...or Bush, "Hitler" like, they marginalize the absolute tyranny and oppression that these people went through. And the fact that the ADL or many in the media don't react to this rhetoric is just as disgusting.

The ADL actually did go after Charles Rangel for comparing the war in Iraq with the murdering of six million jews.

Not that I doubt that this didn't happen, but do you have a link to a story. My limited search (on Google) found no reprimand from the "ADL" or Abe Foxman. In fact, many earlier articles show that these two appear to be close on other matters...as Charles was even honored by the ADL. I generally listen to the news but I just don't remember this happening...especially since Hannity raged on it for weeks. Thanks

No, but I heard Michael Medved mention it the other day, and Dennis Prager say it today.

call me crazy, but if he is calling our armed service members nazi's or communists or pol pot, him being in the leadership would make him like Hitler, Pol Pot, or Stalin.

Thanks for the link. The ADL has gained a little more of my respect back. I only hope to hear some of the same condemnation against Durbin...and any other Democrats who continue to bring up the Nazi analogy.

HERE'S MY LETTER:

Senator Dick Durbin
332 Dirksen Senate Bldg.
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Durbin,

I’m sure that by now you’ve every manner of criticism regarding your irresponsible and reprehensible remarks regarding the al Qaeda prison facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. You’re rhetoric may be intended merely as a petty attack on the Bush Administration, but the effects resonate far beyond our borders and feed into the hands of America’s enemies. So now according to you the Americans in Cuba working tirelessly to protect you, your neighbors, your family and your nation are comparable to Nazis, Stalin (with his gulags) and the Khmer Rouge?

Your rhetoric might be forgivable if your statements were true, but they are not. I have no doubt that Guantanamo Bay is not a fun place, and I have no doubt that the interrogations ongoing there are not pleasant, but your comparisons are simply ridiculous. Poor al Qaeda terrorists exposed to 100 degree weather, overly cold air-conditioned rooms and rap music? Sounds like New Orleans last summer.

I saw the Pentagon burn on 9-11. I had friends die in the World Trade Center. I haven’t forgotten. Unlike you, I apparently know the threat these terrorists pose to America. Marcus Tullius Cicero said it best over two-thousand years ago:

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. … He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."

Cicero apparently knew you personally. It’s time for you to resign, and leave the job of governing our society to someone better. Before 9-11 I was never an activist. You won your senate seat in 2002 by outspending your opponent by a 10-1 ratio. Should you run in 2008, I’ll make it my personal project to make sure you’re outspent 2-1. That’s a promise.

< SMEDLEY >

I borrowed the Cicero quote from another post. I suspect the poster will not mind
