Rather than trial by bench, what about a panel of 12, but that every county hires a few permanent panels to hear cases? Maybe they could even be elected By The People every few years?

Even though I disagree with the jury's finding of not guilty, we should stick with the current system. We don't need "professional" jurors like what we have with "professional" politicians such as US Congress or the CA Legislature. We need to stick with citizen jurors that are randomly picked. In fact, I favor randomly picked politicians picked out of a phone book. No more groomed people for office such as those who belong to an exclusive club such as going to Harvard or Yale.
