Senator McCain is a political opportunist who will say anything and stab anyone in the back in his pursuit of power. His rise to run for president again must be derailed. I fear that our only choices in 2008 will be between Hillary and McCain - and neither one is an acceptable candidate.

McCain must be stopped. The grassroots needs to bet together to do this. Similar resolutions to this one that was unanimously passed should be proposed and passed in each and every Republican organization in the United States. This groundswell of opposition to McCain would go far in derailing his rise to power. I will be proposing this resolution in the next meeting of my Republican Club and our local party. We can do this. We MUST do this.

That is McCain's act of treason. He fought for liberty in Vietnam -- only to fight against liberty in the Senate.

John McCain may be the ultimate RINO and the liberal media's favorite Republican but he is not a 'traitor' in the true sense of the word. Calling him a traitor is counter-productive as it offers McCain the oppoprtunity to play 'victim' of the 'extreme rightwing' and just makes conservatives look nasty.

It pretty obvious that Arizona Senator McCain is a two-faced, phony politician who uses his POW experience to silence critics and to give his presidential fantasies some gravitas and legitimacy. He co-authored a terrible campaign finance Bill that seemed to find rather hasty approval by (too) many Republicans, the president and the Supreme Court and now, we're stuck with it. Conservatives won't forget that, among other anti-constitutional back-stabs McCain has been involved in over the years.

The good news is that while McCain many find some traction for his 2008 presidential asperations in California, New York and New England (and tons of old-media coverage) and he can even win a primary election in states that allow anyone to vote, including Democrats. However, McCain will fail spectacularly in the Southern-state primaries where his liberalism and his squeaky-voiced speeches will fall on the deaf ears (to McCain) of most conservative, grassroots Republicians.

Without their votes John McCain can never be nominated for the presidency on the Republican ticket. I seriously doubt he would actually try to run as a Democrat when he gets so much more attention and TV face-time posing as a 'Republican'.

I disagree with McCain on almost everything he does. That said, he still has a perfect right to do what his principles and conscience dictate. This kind of crap from the so-called Arizona Republican Assembly is totally un-American. I cannot speak FOR what McCain has done, but I can speak AGAINST repressive and irrational political actions like this one.

Look, I'm not wild about Senator McCain, but if I were faced with having to vote for him or some junky Demo, I'd vote McCain any day of the week. While he's not as good as some, he could be worse. For instance, while Chafee, Collins and Snowe took turns flaking off over the trio of conservatives (Brown, Owen & Pryor), McCain voted for all 3. He's generally (and surprisingly) pro-life and anti-gay in his voting record.

Yes, he does silly things but I do NOT agree with those who say he's no better than a Democrat. He may be one of our worst Republicans but he's better than any Dem in the Senate, imo.

After spending nearly 30 years in the Phoenix area, on and off, McCain has ALWAYS been a Democrat. BUT, when he was originally elected in Arizona, it still had enough of a hard fought independent contingent to the voter base that McCain HAD to run as a Republican. He never would have gotten into office back then.

Unfortunately, now he can enjoy his "leadership" position of a Democrat mole and Committee Chairman while stabbing Republicans in the back and working with his DEMONrat Allies.

Be very careful, or he will surely jump ship and take the Senate with him.. There are enough squishy Senators ready to stick it to the rightwing base that they could cause real problems.. Better to vote these scoundrels out of office instead of dragging our party in a public mudwrestling contest..

He will get his, encourage him to run for president in the primaries, and whip his ass so bad that he limps away like the sorry dog that he is.. no offense to dogs.. :)

ARA member Bruce Barton, of Safford, authored the resolution. The reasons behind the censure focus specifically on McCain’s amnesty bill for illegal aliens, for deserting the ranks of the Republican Party by undermining Senate President Bill Frist’s recent attempt to change a filibuster cloture rule and for ignoring constitutional concerns with his campaign finance reform law.

Public opinion on the ARA censure ran favorably all week long. A non-scientific GOPUSA/Arizona poll drawing 213 responses resulted in 93.4 percent approval of the censure.

I'd rather do a write in for my deceased cat then vote for this lowlife.

I don't think that Senator McCain will run in 2008. He's been in and out of bad health for the past five years or so. I don't think he'll be up to the challenge in 2008. In addition, his support will be drained by the likely campaign of Mitt Romney and the less likely but possible campaign of Rudy Guiliani. Mr. Guiliani and Senator McCain will be drawing from the voter base, and as long as Mr. Guiliani hasn't made clear that he won't run, much of that base will be hesitant to commit to Sentor McCain. Mitt Romney isn't as well known and won't appeal exactly to the same people, but he could be a favorite of many socially liberal Republicans. He's almost certain to run, and he will draw some support from Senator McCain. With all of these factors against him, I don't see the senator taking another shot at it.

The number one Article in a measure to censure Arizona Senator John McCain:

WHEREAS, Senator John McCain is presently co-sponsoring, together with his Democrat soul-mate, Senator Teddy Kennedy, a Bill to Reform the Immigration Policy of the United States promoting amnesty for illegal aliens and for their U.S. employers, thus ignoring the opinions of his constituents expressed in numerous polls and personal pleas; and

Sen. McCain is a supporter of illegal aliens. He cares more about helping illegal aliens than he does about helping Americans.

Everybody also please anticipate many Democrats changing their party registration to Republican in the next couple of years, in order to vote for McCain in the '08 primaries and get him nominated or cause public confrontation at the Republican National Convention. They desperately want McCain as the nominee because it would ensure that a conservative can't be President and would drive conservative voters away in November.
