The only reason we even have heard of this case, is that we are all "enjoying" or are at least somewhat interested in this latest "dissapeared girl/woman" case. I guess the cable channels have decided that a constant state of "Bulletin Edge" is the best new strategy that sells air time, and gets ratings. So, they have staffs that scour the local news feeds, looking for just the right kidnap, dissapearences, or murder cases to pounce upon. Add to that the biggies like Michael Jackson, Robert Blake, OJ, etc. and you have 24 hours of coverage, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Widespread interest in disappeared woman cases considerably predates 24 hour cable news.
