So many murders that cause barely a ripple in the press. I always think the ones that become front page news must just shock the perpetrator.
They probably can't believe that THEIR murder is the one all over the media. I knew someone stabbed to death by her husband in front of her kids. You can't find it now, not even on google. Compare that with what happened to Scott Peterson.
Well it could be because these little Euro Islands are not hotbeds of crime.
That has puzzled me as well. Why does the press only hype a few murder cases? I think it may have to do with selecting those they think will get a bigger audience to watch TV or read a newspaper. They have advertising to sell.
Probably your acquaintance wasn't young and photogenic enough.
I've thought the same thing. It's a weird kind of lottery--completely irrational.
Actually, it is shocking, because most murderers only spend less than 9 years actual time in prison. It is only the high profile news cases like the Manson family, and this Aruba girl, where the murderers will be spending more than 9 years in prison. The system is not right, a person that murders my uncle should get the same jail time as the murderer of Sharon Tate, or this aruba girl, but most people dont think so. Most people think that if you kill a celebrity, that you should spend more time in prison than if you killed an average joe who does not make the headlines.
We had an Amber alert here yesterday. Crazy woman took daughter and had previously stated she'd kill her and herself. Kept my eyes open because it was nearby (Walnut Creek). Heard on the news every so briefly today they'd found them dead...
Parents who do that will SO burn in hell...
