I don't think it is incompetence at all.
I think it is very cold, calculating spin.....waiting for public outrage to die down so that the whole thing can be covered up and swept under the rug to protect the judge's son.
I happen to think that the original statements by the police chiefs or sheriffs, whoever they were, were accurate statements. The higher ups had to "reel them in" and retract the statements.
I believe that there was a confession. I believe that someone was going to lead them to the body and for all we know they already have the body. I believe all of that fell through to protect the judge's son. In other words, a giant coverup.
So possibly competence wanting, to be viewed as incompetence. Yes, I had the same feeling on those statements that were retracted earlier. This whole concept of the Aruban authorites is giving new meaning to the phrase, "Protect&Save Their Own."
This concept does not apply, if you are a security guard on the lower social economic scale. Maybe the thought or idea here by the Arub politicos is, frustrate them long enough and they will go away. You may have a valid point concerning this Aruban Circus. NSNR
