AS WE ALL WHERE right after high school....

What the hell does that mean? I graudated in 2001, went to community college, got an AA degree and what did it get me? I work at Safeco Field, picking up trash after the baseball games, i've also just been hired by Qwest Field ( the Seahawks for field staff. I've never touched an ounce of alcohol, i'm 22 and hell i'm still a virgin. But then again, i can't name a single friend, so there's your answer.

Well, worldwide publicity is killing their main industry, so either they give the guilty ones hefty jail terms and stop blaming Natalee for being murdered, or they'll starve. No American travel agency is going to recommend Aruba anytime soon. They have to clean up their act, and that means the other side of the island...the part most tourists don't see...the crack houses, shanty towns, etc. And they'd better stop the drug and slave trade.

I think the Aruban LE looks pretty good compared to, eg, the DC police in the Chandra Levy matter. Not the Condit angle, but terribly incompetent things like not finding the body in the area searched, then when bones found, not recovering all of them tough large ones were just 5 or ten yards away, etc.

It's quite a roller coaster ride of information and misinformation and impossible to tell which is which.

This reminds me of an incident here in Boston a few years ago. A young Sweedish Nanny was drunk outside a Local bar and hanging all over a bunch of strange guys. That was the last time anyone saw her alive. A while later they Found half of her. Somebody had cut her in half. The found her from waist up in a dumpster. They never recovered her bottom half.

To: I still care

I've thought the same thing. It's a weird kind of lottery--completely irrational.

If the culprit is the Van der Sloot kid, he looks like a cocky s.o.b.

Poor kid ... I was afraid of this. Now she'll never have the chance to grow up and become a little wiser.

Question, though: Am I the only one who thinks her parents should never have let her go in the first place? (Even if she was 18, you can oftentimes keep kids from doing things if you really put your foot down.) I saw the mom on TV saying she wouldn't leave without her daughter, and thought, you know, if you had gone down there with her in the first place, you'd still have your daughter.

Mind you, I am all for travel for kids. I did a lot myself - but always with my parents or a chaperone.

Oh, well, water under the bridge. Poor Natalie, poor family. Prayers for all of them.

That whole search/investigation was a freakin' circus. Never hear a peep about it anymore. Condit got away with murder.

Though subtle, it just confirms the statistics about girls being at higher risk if they dont live with their father.

I doubt the father would have let her go, unless he was there. Then, when he saw those creeps in a shoving match, there is NO way his dautgher would have gone off with them.

One reason why this case, like Peterson's, reached national status is because of the mystery element involved.

No body at the beginning of both cases so it gave the media and message board detectives a chance to speculate about all kinds of theories. In the case of the media it becomes a ratings feast as the "mystery" unfolds.

Being in the Army helped.Meeting my wife helped more.

Army sergeants have their own methods for inculcating common sense. So do good wives. :-)

Fire the chaperons.

Allowing an eighteen year old to be out drinking in a bar on a school trip is very irresponsible.

So true. If you say that to most people though, their heads will explode in Politically Correct righteous indignation!

>Obviously, everyone here hoped she'd be alive

None of the news sites
are reporting that they found
her body. I'm not

near a TV set.
Are the TV news shows still
saying they've found her?!

Fox is now saying that "there are conflicting reports" of the body being found.
